How to Scale with Stardust through Frictionless User Onboarding

New tech often leads with pure functionality first and Web3 is no different. As any new technology moves out of its infancy it becomes more palatable by becoming faster and easier to use, which leads to mass adoption. Web3 is still in its early days, with rough edges and a learning curve that scares off many users.

A great user experience is characterized by ease of use and fun. For the average user, Web3 currently brings many places of friction. One of the largest current hurdles in Web3 user adoption is wallet creation. The elements of Web3 wallet creation, like downloading a wallet, setting up an account, and writing down private keys gates the ability to actually play a Web3 game.

The key is to make it so that the user never has to understand the concept of a blockchain or cryptocurrency. That’s why Stardust offers an easy-to-use Web3 wallet that allows anyone to onboard users to Web3 through any UI/UX.

Stardust provides a simple blockchain backend solution for game developers that adheres to existing or planned UI/UX. This allows developers to focus on what they do best: building the most amazing experiences for their users.

Stardust’s mission is to make it easy for anyone to implement Web3 elements like wallets into games. Because of this, Stardust was able to help create ~400,000 wallets in a few hours on Polygon for Dr. Disrespect’s new studio, Midnight Society.

Dr. Disrespect’s Midnight Society is a great example of a few things:

  1. Web2 developers getting up and running with web3 infrastructure in hours, not weeks.
  2. Providing end-users with a UI that was familiar and frictionless.
  3. A mass usage and onboarding event for blockchain.

Midnight Society’s user flow looked and felt exactly like a normal game or website. Users authenticated with email, google, twitch, or discord, and then select users clicked ‘claim item’.

That’s all the user had to do, while on the backend, a Polygon wallet was created and a token was minted on-chain. No private keys. No transaction signing. Due to Stardust’s ease of integration, this massive mint was set up in a few days before going live to 400k users.

Let’s take a look at a normal web2 UX for any app/game/website:

  1. User navigates to an app/game/website.
  2. User creates an account or has an account created for them.
  3. User interacts with the app, status changes are saved in the account.

Now here is a UX for a blockchain-backed app/game/website with Stardust:

  1. User navigates to an app/game/website.
  2. User creates an account or has an account created for them.
  3. User interacts with the app, status changes are saved in the account.

Stardust gives game developers the ability to put the user experience first and create the best possible experience for users while still utilizing all the benefits that come with web3.

For posterity, let’s analyze what’s happening behind the scenes!

The Stardust user flow again:

  1. User navigates to app/game/website/in-person event
  2. User creates an account or has an account created for them.
  3. The developer uses the Stardust API to call player/create with any unique ID for each User.
  4. Stardust creates a Web3 wallet for the User.
  5. (Optional) – The developer can use the Stardust API to provide the User with knowledge and information on this newly created wallet – or not.
  6. The Account is used by the User to interact virtually with the app.
  7. At this point, the developer can give the user ownership of any virtual asset by minting using the robust Stardust API.

The developer never touches or stores any private keys. They are all generated, stored, and secured by Stardust. The majority of the next 500 million blockchain game players won’t write down private keys. Stardust is the new standard for easy Web3 integration and is providing the infrastructure 500 million players will have fun on. It’s about making Web3 easy for game developer and players!
